Features

Live data visualization

Create dashboards with drag & drop widgets, like graphs and pie-charts, to display live data from your machines. The moment users are active, the corresponding edge gateways will monitor the machine and send live data to the users (via IXON Cloud).

Learn more about the possibililties.

Alarms & notifications

Set alarms and triggers and IXON Cloud will configure the edge gateway to monitor locally. Then you can set up notifications to be delivered by IXON Cloud. Determine which users should receive them and whether they will be sent by email or push notification.

Scheduled reports

From the IXON Studio, you can build reports with widgets, and schedule these reports to be emailed as PDFs to stakeholders.

Frequently asked questions

What is IXON’s Machine Insights Cloud?

IXON's Machine Insights Cloud is a cloud-based platform that gives machine builders direct access to both real time and historical data from their machines. The platform is designed to simplify remote fault diagnosis and maintenance. By providing insight into a machine’s current status and fault history, machine builders can resolve issues faster and more efficiently, without the need to be physically on site.

The four key features of Machine Insights Cloud are:

  • Data logging and storage: data is automatically read from machine controllers and sent to the Cloud, where it is securely stored.
  • Data visualization: dashboards make it possible to visualize and analyze data.
  • Automated reporting: users automatically receive machine overviews via email in the form of PDF reports. For example, a monthly overview of energy consumption or the number of breakdowns in that period.
  • Alarming and notifications: users receive alerts based on predefined events, such as a machine failure or a notification that materials have run out. Another example is a critical fault that triggers a notification for the service engineer. This allows the engineer to start reviewing dashboards before the customer even calls, enabling a proactive approach and faster problem resolution.

Machine Insights Cloud is specifically designed for service data used by machine builders. It is not intended for daily machine operation or factory wide production planning.

How do I implement Machine Insights Cloud?

Machine Insights Cloud is a plug-and-play system that works with virtually all types of controllers. IXON provides both the cloud software and the edge gateways, ensuring reliable, secure, and easy operation.

The process proceeds according to the following steps:

  1. Configure the data source in the IXON Portal.
    1. Specify the brand and type of controller used in the machine (e.g. Siemens or Rockwell).
    2. Define variables, intervals, and conditions for data logging.
    3. Provide the address from which the controller data can be collected.
  2. Send the configuration to the IXON edge gateway (one click).
  3. The edge gateway automatically starts logging all controller data.
  4. The data is being forwarded to IXON Cloud. If the internet connection is interrupted, the Edge Gateway buffers the data and sends it once the connection is restored.
  5. In IXON Cloud, dashboards and reports can then be easily compiled and linked to one or more machines

Because IXON delivers a fully managed solution, no in-house software development is required. Dashboards and reports can be created and used without any programming knowledge.

Which industrial protocols does IXON support?

We support a wide array of Industrial communication protocols such as OPC-UA, ModBus and Siemens S7.

How can I visualize my machine data?

With Machine Insights Cloud, IXON offers countless options to visualize your data in the IXON Cloud platform.

  • You can use our standard components in the Data Studio, such as line graphs, pie charts etc.
  • If you’re looking for specific components for machine builders, you can take a look at our Marketplace for applications such as State Analysis, Wear & Tear, etc.
  • In addition, our App Engine enables you or a solution partner to build the components that you need.

IXON never limits you.

How much data can I store within IXON Cloud?

We provide maximum flexibility by offering managed metrics storage for an entire company. You can choose which device should log data and in what quantity. Choose the size that suits you.

How will the security of my data be guaranteed?

At IXON, security is built into every layer of the Machine Insights Cloud, from the hardware in the machine to the storage in the cloud. We employ a comprehensive security strategy to guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of data.

The security of machine data is based on the following facts:

  • Secure connection: IXON's edge gateways establishes an outgoing connection to the cloud from the machine itself. This means that no incoming ports need to be opened in the firewall. All data is encrypted during transport using TLS encryption.
  • European data storage: Machine data is stored in highly secure, ISO 27001 and SOC2-certified data centers within Europe. This means we are fully compliant with European GDPR legislation.
  • Access management: You retain complete control over who has access to the data. The IXON Portal allows you to manage user rights in detail and enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (2FA) for extra security.
  • 24/7 monitoring: Our cloud infrastructure is continuously monitored by automated systems and our security team to immediately detect and neutralize any threats.
IXON is certified for ISO 27001 (information security), ISO 27017 (cloud security), and ISO 27701 (privacy) and our processes are designed in accordance with the IEC 62443 cybersecurity standards for the industry.

For an in-depth technical explanation of our measures, please refer to our IXON Security Guide.

Can I proactively alarm stakeholders in case of machine anomalies?

Yes, with Machine Insights Cloud it’s possible to set who receives alerts when something is wrong with the machine, and in what way alarms are sent.  It’s even possible to send instructions along about what they can do to help resolve the issue.

Learn more about alarms & notifications here.

Does IXON’s Machine Insights Cloud enable preventive maintenance?

IXON’s Machine Insights Cloud enables you to prevent maintenance by monitoring different assets in your machine. For example, when a bearing exceeds the described amount of running hours, you can prevent downtime by already replacing this bearing.
