The industry is currently in the midst of a new revolution: the fourth industrial revolution. Often referred to as Industry 4.0, or Smart Industry, it is the current trend of creating “smart” factories by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, data exchange and other technological advancements in the core of your production systems. IXON offers machine builders the number 1 Industrial IoT platform - the IXON Cloud - which allows them to easily connect their machines to the cloud in order to make the most of their machines.
At IXON, it’s our mission to connect machines to the cloud in a secure and easy manner and to contribute to a more productive world where machines always run. However, connecting your machines to the internet poses some risks, such as hacking, DDoS attacks and Man-in-the-Middle attacks. It is therefore of utmost importance to make sure all systems and connections are safe. IXON CEO, Willem Hofmans, states: “Machine builders entrust us with critical data and it is our number 1 priority to protect this data at all costs and make sure that it’s always available. We created an ISO 27001 based ISMS in order to identify, prevent and defend any vulnerabilities that may arise. This systematic approach allows us to achieve our main goals: no security incidents, 99.9% uptime and no data loss.”
The ISMS covers all of IXON’s business activities:
Choosing such a wide scope for our ISMS allows us to not only protect all data in the IXON Cloud, but also all of our internal data. “Thanks to our ISMS, we’re able to protect the confidentiality, availability and integrity of all data and now I can finally sleep well,” says Willem.
ISO 27001 is the leading global standard for organisations to protect their information assets and requires adherence to a number of disciplines, including access control, (cyber)security, compliance, risk management and business continuity. Compliance with ISO 27001 shows that organisations have implemented comprehensive security programs and controls that protect their information and those of their customers in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
After a series of extensive audits by DigiTrust, an RvA accredited certification body based in the Netherlands, our ISMS was found to be fully compliant with the ISO 27001 standard. This shows our ISMS is of excellent quality and that we protect all data according to the highest industry standards.
We will continue to improve our ISMS and make sure that all of our data and our customers’ data remains safe. Willem concludes: “With the ISO 27001 certification, we can now focus on driving innovation, with the confidence that all data is protected.”
