IEC 62443-4-1 certification for IXON's development process | IXON

IXON is dedicated to making our products secure enough for even the strictest production environments. As a key part of this commitment, we’re proud to announce that our team has officially received the IEC 62443-4-1 certificate: a formal, independent validation of how we build security into our products from start to finish.

What does this actually mean?

The IEC 62443-4-1 standard is unique because it doesn't look at a finished product in isolation. Instead, it audits the entire Secure Product Development Lifecycle. Independent auditors from the certification body Bureau Veritas, reviewed our internal processes for everything from initial design and threat modeling to our security testing and how we manage updates.

The audit confirmed our processes meet Maturity Level 2 (ML2). In practical terms, this means we have a managed and repeatable process in place, ensuring that consistent security practices are applied to every product we develop.

Key benefits for customers and partners

This certification provides two key benefits:

  • Verified trust
You don't just have to take our word for our security practices. Now, you have proof from an accredited, international body that our processes meet a high standard.
  • Simplified compliance
When you conduct your own risk assessments for NIS2 or undergo audits like ISO 27001, this certificate serves as formal evidence that you are integrating components from a supplier with a certified secure development process. It makes your job easier to show that the solution meets the highest standards.

This certification is the foundation of our security strategy. We're continuing on this path as we now work towards the IEC 62443-4-2 certification for our newer generation of hardware.
